World Champions League: Maha Kumbh uniting legendary cricketers

New Delhi. Some of the world’s biggest cricket names will descend on Edgbaston Stadium in 2024 for the launch of the World Champions League (WCL), a new global T20 tournament developed by Bollywood film and music media Zabava Entertainment.
The WCL will feature retired and non-contracted players from the six major powers of world cricket – England, India, Pakistan, Australia, West Indies and South Africa – looking to bring back to cricket fans some of the game’s biggest rivalries, including India vs Pakistan. Are ready for.
Commenting on the partnership, Harshit Tomar, Director, Zabava Entertainment, said, “WCL is set to bring back the India-Pakistan rivalry and bring together great players from England, Australia, South Africa and the West Indies. England has always been the home of cricket. And when it comes to Birmingham, it is also home to many Indians and Pakistanis. We are looking forward to providing ten days of cricket entertainment to fans globally.”
Edgbaston chief executive Stuart Cann said, “We have staged some of the biggest matches in world cricket and it will be great to see some of the heroes involved in those matches at Edgbaston.”
Subject to ECB approval and the announcement of the English domestic schedule (November 2023), the tournament is scheduled to be played in the summer of 2024. The major group games, semi-finals and finals will be played at Edgbaston and some group games at other grounds around Warwickshire.(IANS)
