World Cup 2023: Security arrangements tight in Ahmedabad for the final match, police deployed at every nook and corner

Ahmedabad : The final match of the World Cup will be played between India and Australia on Sunday at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Australia’s Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Bollywood stars have also been invited to watch it. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been invited as the chief guest. The biggest thing is that before this final match, security arrangements have been tightened in Ahmedabad. Police personnel have been deployed at every nook and corner here.

More than one lakh visitors expected

Ahmedabad Police Commissioner GS Malik said Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Australian Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles will be among the prominent personalities expected to be present during the ICC Cricket World Cup final in the city’s Motera area. Malik said that keeping in mind the movement of more than one lakh spectators in the stadium and the presence of many dignitaries, elaborate security arrangements have been made with Gujarat Police, Rapid Action Force (RAF), Home Guard personnel.

6000 policemen deployed

Malik said that to ensure that this prestigious match is conducted without any problem. More than 6000 policemen have been deployed for this. Out of these 6000 personnel, about three thousand will be deployed inside the stadium. The remaining soldiers have been deployed around the hotels where guests, players and other dignitaries stay.

RAF company will be present inside the stadium

He said that one company of Rapid Action Force (RAF) will be deployed inside the stadium, while the other company will be deployed outside the stadium. He said that the city police has set up a temporary command and control room inside the venue equipped with wireless network, which will work even if mobile communication fails. Malik said that four senior IPS officers of the rank of Inspector General and Deputy Inspector General and 23 Deputy Commissioners of Police will inspect and guide the personnel on the match day. He said that 39 assistant police commissioners and 92 police inspectors will assist them.

NDRF teams were also put on duty

The Ahmedabad police chief said that National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams will also be deployed in the city to respond to any chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) emergency during the match. He said 10 teams of ‘Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad’ as well as two teams of Chetak commandos, an elite unit, would be deployed near the stadium.

These celebrities will come to watch the match with PM Modi

Other dignitaries present during the final match at the stadium include Union Home Minister Amit Shah, US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti, Singapore Home Affairs and Law Minister K Shanmugam, Tamil Nadu Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, Chief Ministers of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma is included. The famous Surya Kiran aerobatics team of the Indian Air Force will also perform an air show before the match on Sunday. The match will start at 2 pm in the stadium with a capacity of 1 lakh 32 thousand spectators. The Indian team has won all its 10 matches so far in the tournament.
