World Cup 2023: Why did the Indian team enter the field wearing a black band in Ekana, know the reason

The Indian cricket team played with a black armband in memory of former captain Bishan Singh Bedi in the World Cup match against England at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on Sunday. Bedi died on 23 October.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said in a statement immediately after the start of the World Cup match here, Team India will play today with a black armband in memory of the legendary Bishan Singh Bedi, who died on 23 October 2023.
Apart from his wife Anju, Bedi is survived by daughter Neha and sons Angad and Gawas Inder Singh. He also has a daughter, Gilinder, from his first wife, Glenith Miles. This former cricketer was ill for more than two years and during this time he had to undergo several surgeries, including knee surgery.
Bedi was 77 years old. He led the Indian team in 22 Tests from 1976-78. He represented the country in a total of 67 Tests and 10 ODIs between 1967 and 1979. During this period, he also captained India in four One Day Internationals.
At the time of his retirement, Bedi was India’s most successful bowler with 266 wickets at an average of 28.71. Bedi was also a part of India’s legendary spin quartet which included Bhagwat Chandrashekhar, Erapalli Prasanna and Srinivas Venkataraghavan.
