New Delhi | The match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat Giants in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) on Wednesday is very important for both the teams as both the teams want to add points to their names in the points table. Bengaluru’s overseas stars Ellyse Perry, Heather Knight, Sophie Devine and Megan Schutt are yet to produce match-winning performances in the tournament, which former India wicket-keeper batsman Parthiv Patel believes is the biggest setback for the Smriti Mandhana-led side. It is a matter of concern.

“The biggest concern for RCB is that their overseas stars are not performing. They have invested heavily in their overseas players,” Patel said in response to INS’ question in a virtual interaction sponsored by Sports 18 and GeoCinema. More importantly, someone who starts well should try to score big which is missing the RCB camp.”

The RCB women’s team is being compared to the men’s women’s team on social media but is unable to perform as a unit. Patel believes that the team has the ability to bounce back from two defeats.

Patel said, “If you look at the names inside the team, they can make a comeback. There is no doubt about that. I am hopeful that they will make a comeback at some stage in the tournament. We have seen these men in the IPL where some Teams don’t start well but they go on to win titles and RCB has that ability.”(IANS)
