Former England cricketer John Lewis has been appointed as the head coach of the team, while Arjuna awardee Anju Jain will be the assistant coach. Former Australian cricketer Ashley Noffke will be the bowling coach, while four-time world champion Lisa Sthalekar from Australia will be the mentor.
Lewis, the current head coach of the England women’s team, is very experienced and has taken more than 1200 wickets in more than 500 matches at international and domestic level. WPL will be organized in Mumbai from March 4 to 26. The plan is to end the event before the men’s IPL. All its 22 matches will be played at Brabourne Stadium and DY Patil Stadium.
The players auction for WPL will be held in Mumbai on February 13. The Board of Control for Cricket in India has announced this. 409 players from India and abroad will participate in the auction. Out of a total of 1525 names, they have been shortlisted. Out of 409 players, 246 are Indian and 163 are foreign players, out of which 8 are players from associate countries. The highest base price for players is Rs 50 lakh.
