The names of 24 players are included in the list with a base price of Rs 50 lakh. Team India captain Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, Deepti Sharma and India’s Under-19 T20 World Cup winning captain Shafali Verma are among the few Indians who have placed themselves in the highest bracket among Indian players. As many as 13 overseas players have kept themselves under the reserve price of Rs 50 lakh, with Ellyse Perry, Sophie Ecclestone, Sophie Devine and Deandra Dottin to name a few.
30 players in the list with a base price of Rs 40 lakh
There are 30 players in the auction list whose base price is Rs 40 lakh. Auction will start at 2:30 PM. The BCCI (Cricket Board of India) sold the broadcast rights of this league for Rs 951 crore after winning Rs 4669.99 crore in the bidding for five teams, making WPL the second biggest T20 league in the world after the Indian Premier League. Apart from IPL teams like Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals, Capri Global Holdings (Lucknow) and Adani Sportline have bought franchise teams for WPL.
Every franchisee will spend 12 crores
In the auction, each franchise team can spend Rs 12 crore on players. Teams will have to bid successfully for a minimum of 15 and a maximum of 18 players. A total of 22 matches will be played in the league and the team topping the table will qualify for the finals. There will be a knockout match between the second and third place team to make a place in the title match.
