Chasing RCB’s target of 151, Delhi’s fifth wicket between Marizanne Cape (32 not out in 32 balls, three fours, one six) and Jess Jonassen (29 not out in 15 balls, four fours, one six) With the unbroken partnership of 45 runs, India won by scoring 154 runs for four wickets in 19.4 overs.
Ellis Capse (38) and Jemima Rodrigues (30) also played useful innings for Delhi. RCB rode on a half-century from Ellyse Perry (67 not out in 52 balls, five sixes, four sixes) and her flamboyant 74-run partnership for the fourth wicket with Richa Ghosh (37 runs in 16 balls, three sixes, three fours) 150 runs were scored.
With these two innings, the RCB team was able to add 82 runs in the last six overs. Chasing the target, Delhi lost the wicket of Shefali Verma (00) on the second ball, which was bowled by Megan Schutt (one wicket for 24 runs). Ellis Capse (38) opened the account with fours on the shot and then hit four fours in two overs of Renuka Singh.
Capse welcomed Priti Bose (one wicket for 12 runs) with three fours but in the same over Parry was caught at the boundary. He hit eight fours while facing 24 balls. The Delhi team scored 52 runs for two wickets in the power play.
Captain Meg Lanning (15) then led the innings with Jemima. Coming out to start the innings, Lanning hit his first boundary on Shreyanka on the 14th ball in the eighth over. However, in an attempt to play a big shot off leg-spinner Shobhana Asha (2 for 27), she gave an easy catch to Heather Knight at long off.
Jemima was lucky to score 17 runs when Preeti dropped her easy catch at backward point off Parry. Jemima, along with Marijan, took Delhi’s score past 100 runs in the 14th over. Jemima, however, waved Shobhana’s ball in the air and caught wicketkeeper Richa Ghosh. He scored 32 runs in 28 balls with three fours.
Delhi needed 37 runs to win in the last five overs. Marijan reduced the pressure on Shreyanka Patil with fours but only five runs were scored in the 17th over of the shoot. Marijan once again increased his team’s chances with a six on Parry. Delhi needed 16 runs in the last two overs. Jonassen hit Shreyanka for a four, which scored seven runs in the over.
Delhi needed nine runs in the last over of Renuka and Jonassen gave the team victory with sixes and fours in consecutive balls. Earlier, Lanning won the toss and decided to bowl. Marijan Cape put the first over maiden to Smriti Mandhana (08) after which Sophie Devine (21) opened her and the team’s account with a four off Alice Cape.
