Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh Violent clashes took place on Sunday between the Olympic medalist players and the police, who were agitating for the demand of arrest. Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik and Bajrang Punia were taken into custody by the Delhi Police on Sunday for violating law and order after they tried to break through the security cordon and proceed towards the new Parliament House for a women ‘mahapanchayat’. During this, many pictures are being shared on social media, in which both the sisters are seen lying on the road holding the tricolor in their hands. Amid chaos at Jantar Mantar, wrestlers and police officers pushed each other and Vinesh Phogat and her sister Sangeeta Phogat tried to break the barricade. Vinesh put up a strong resistance while trying to be taken into custody and Sangeeta lay down on the road hugging him. Police officers dragged him along with many other wrestlers and their supporters and made them sit in buses.

After taking the wrestlers into custody, the Delhi Police removed the cots, mattresses, coolers, fans and tarpaulin roof along with other belongings of the wrestlers at Jantar Mantar. After which there is a possibility that the police will no longer allow the wrestlers to come back to the picket site, but no official statement has been issued in this regard yet.
Wrestlers were taken to an undisclosed location
The police have forcibly taken the wrestlers to an unknown place by making them sit in buses. The police had warned the wrestlers not to go towards the Parliament but they went ahead after which the clash took place.
Wrestlers had called for Mahila Samman Mahapanchayat
Significantly, the wrestlers had called for a ‘Mahila Samman Mahapanchayat’ on Sunday in front of the new Parliament House. After which the Delhi Police had tightened the security at Jantar Mantar.

The agitating wrestlers, including Olympic medalist Bajrang Punia, Sakshi and Asian Games gold-winner Vinesh, on April 23 resumed their agitation demanding the arrest of Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Brij Bhushan has been accused of alleged sexual harassment of several female wrestlers, including a minor.
