Apart from probing the allegations leveled against the WFI president, the committee will also look into the day-to-day functioning of the Wrestling Federation of India. Bajrang Punia, Vinesh Phogat, Sarita Mor and Sakshi Malik, who were among the wrestlers who sat on a dharna for three days at Jantar Mantar demanding the removal of WFI, have expressed their displeasure by posting similar tweets.

Demand for intervention from Prime Minister

Tagging Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Thakur, these wrestlers have tweeted that we were assured that we would be consulted before forming the monitoring committee. It is really sad that we were not consulted. World Championship bronze medalist and Commonwealth Games champion Geeta Phogat has also urged the Prime Minister to intervene and help resolve the matter.

He had said in another tweet that if the aim is big then keep your spirits high.

Other members of the panel include Olympic medalist wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt, former badminton player and Mission Olympic Cell member Trupti Murgunde, former TOPS CEO Rajagopalan and former Sports Authority of India (SAI) executive director (team) Radhika Sriman. Wrestlers had accused Sharan of adopting a dictatorial attitude and sexually harassing junior wrestlers. Sharan is also a BJP MP. The wrestlers did not reveal the names of the players who were allegedly sexually assaulted.
