The sportspersons’ reaction comes at a time when Indian Olympic Association (IOA) president PT Usha has called off her protest instead of filing a sexual harassment complaint against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh with the ‘Athletics Commission’. Wrestlers were severely criticized for taking to the streets to resume the tournament. Neeraj Chopra said that it pains me to see our players on the streets demanding justice. Abhinav Bindra, who won the gold medal in shooting at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, recently expressed his support for the wrestlers.

Bindra had tweeted, ‘As a player, we work hard every day to represent our country at the international level. It is very sad to see that our players are finding it necessary to protest on the streets against the allegations of harassment in the Indian wrestling administration. Several wrestlers including Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia and Sakshi Malik are sitting on a dharna at Jantar Mantar with allegations against Brijbhushan Sharan Singh of sexual harassment and threatening wrestlers.
