Wrestlers Protest: Delhi Police seeks report from committee probing allegations against WFI chief Brij Bhushan

Swati Maliwal raised questions on Delhi Police
Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur had announced a five-member monitoring committee headed by veteran boxer MC Mary Kom to investigate the allegations against Brij Bhushan. Delhi Commission for Women chief Swati Maliwal questioned the delay in registering the FIR by the Delhi Police and said that one of the complainants is a minor and the police should register a case under the POCSO Act.

He said, ‘Many Olympian women wrestlers of the country are being forced to protest on the streets. She is crying bitterly. My blood boils seeing them like this but the Delhi Police is sleeping. It has been 72 hours since these wrestlers complained of sexual exploitation against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Maliwal said, ‘One of the complainants is a minor. The Delhi Police should have registered an FIR under sections of the POCSO Act. Delhi Police is trying to save Brij Bhushan. If this is happening in Delhi, how will girls feel safe in other parts of the country?’
