New Delhi: Wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha was dropped from the Indian Test team last year. Saha, 38, played his last Test for India in late 2021. After the retirement of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, he was the main keeper in Tests of Team India. But after the arrival of Rishabh Pant, he started getting limited matches. Then Saha was completely dropped from the team. Now Saha has done something, due to which he is being praised everywhere.

Saha left room for the youth

Indian team wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan has decided not to play for East Zone in the Duleep Trophy. In such a situation, the second option across the selectors was Wriddhiman Saha. Saha plays for Tripura. The selectors approached Saha but he too refused to play. Saha has made it clear that he will not return to the Indian team, so does not want to block the path of any young player.

Abhishek Porel will play in the team

Tripura selector Jayant Dey had told Saha about this. He said about the conversation with Saha- Wriddhiman said that Duleep Trophy is for India’s hopes. If I will never play for India then there is no point in stopping a young player from making way. So we chose Abhishek Porel, who was our third choice.

Abhishek, who played domestic cricket for Bengal, was a part of Delhi Capitals in IPL 2023. Where he could not do big wonders with the bat. But his keeping was highly praised. Now he can be seen playing in Duleep Trophy for East Zone.
