New Delhi: Cricket Australia (CA) on Monday said that veteran fast bowler Josh Hazlewood is ‘fit and available’ for the upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) final against India and the Ashes series against arch-rivals England. The WTC final will be held at The Oval in London from June 7 to 11. The team will then play a five-match Ashes series from June 16 to July 31. Hazlewood returned to Australia two weeks ago after sustaining a minor injury while representing Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League. Cricket Australia, however, said the 32-year-old bowler is fit to travel to England. A Cricket Australia spokesperson said, ‘Josh Hazlewood experienced minor pain following the completion of his recent IPL match. He returned home last weekend.
He said, ‘After a brief and precautionary rest, Hazlewood has started bowling practice last week. With the WTC and the Ashes ahead, we will continue to gradually increase his bowling workload. Hazlewood should be considered fit and available for the WTC and Ashes series. ‘In the investigation of this fast bowler, it was found that his injury is not serious. He played his first match of the season in IPL on 9th May. He bowled nine overs in three matches during this period.
