49th Dhrupad fair ends today at Tulsi Ghat in Varanasi, artists from country and abroad give presentation

Today is the last day of the 49th Dhrupad fair at the famous Tulsi Ghat in Kashi. This fair started from 15 February. In which artists gave their presentation at Tulsi Ghat on the banks of the Ganges. The fair was inaugurated by Mahant Professor Vishwambharnath Mishra, Padmashree Rajeshwar Acharya, Padmashree Tratwik Sanyal, Maharaja Banaras Dr. Anant Narayan Singh of Sankat Mochan Temple by lighting a lamp. The presentation of artists in the program runs from 7 am to 11 am. Let us tell you that Dhrupad fair was started in the year 1975. Performers and people from India and abroad come in this four-day program. Pandit Shailendra Kumar Pathak from Jharkhand, Ranchi, who is a singer of Bihar’s famous Gaya Gharana and a master of Dhrupad singing, also reached here to give his presentation.
Gaya Gharana is 250 years old.
Pandit Shailendra Kumar Pathak is Dhrupad singer from All India Radio, Ranchi and Doordarshan. He has been awarded the International Kalashri Samman in 2017. Dhrupad Martand Award has been awarded from Jammu in 2022. Best Judge Award from Association of Indian University Amati Delhi. Pandit Shailendra Kumar Pathak is a resident of Gaya in Bihar and Gaya Gharana belongs to late Rambrij Pathak. At present he is a music teacher in SR DAV. He told that the Gaya Gharana is about 250 years old.
Prabandha singing is Dhrupad singing
He told that Dhrupad singing started from Vrindavan. Tansen was also a Dhrupad singer who was in the court of Raja Mansingh Tomar. Its style is like a hymn. It is compatible. Dhamar Taal is also there; overall it can be called Prabandh Gayaki. Those who sing Dhrupad were called Kalavant. It takes at least 10 years to get its education. In which after continuous practice one can become capable of singing Dhrupad.
