6 contestants of Miss Universe Indonesia filed a complaint of sexual harassment, said- nude in front of 20 people

Six female contestants of the Miss Universe Indonesia pageant have filed police complaints alleging sexual harassment by the organisers, after they alleged that they were made topless during a “body check”. Asked to stand with legs open and took nude pictures and made a video. The police confirmed that the contestants have lodged a report which will be investigated.

In a shocking development, six Miss Universe Indonesia contestants have accused pageant organizers of sexual harassment. According to her lawyer, the contestants were allegedly subjected to topless “body checks” by the organizers of the beauty pageant. The Indonesian beauty pageant was held in Jakarta from 29 July to 3 August. The contestants, in their complaint to the police, said that they were asked to go topless and photographed by the organizers in front of 20 men. Told to stand with legs open. Contestants’ attorney Melissa Anggreni said organizers also took topless photos of the contestants. He said six contestants had lodged a formal complaint with the police. Reacting to the development, the Miss Universe Organization issued a statement saying that it is aware of the incident and is looking into the matter. It stated “Miss Universe takes allegations of sexual harassment and unfairness extremely seriously. Providing a safe space for women is a top priority of the Miss Universe Organization.” Addressing the press conference, a contestant said that the organizers asked him to stand with his legs wide open. The woman said “I felt like I was being stared at, I was very confused and uncomfortable.”

Jakarta police spokesman Trunoyudo Wisnu Endiko said the contestants filed a complaint on Monday and police are investigating the incident. It should be noted that the Miss Universe Organization was purchased by Thai media tycoon and transgender rights advocate Jakapong “Anne” Jakarjutatip in 2022 for US$20 million. The Miss Universe Organization was co-owned by former US President Donald Trump between 1996 and 2002, and the pageant has been running since 1952.
