Rs 72 lakh has been stolen from Agam Kumar’s house and a case has been registered against his (father’s) former driver for theft. An official provided this information on Wednesday. The singer’s father Agamkumar Nigam lives in Windsor Grand Building at Oshiwara in Andheri West and the alleged theft took place between March 19 and March 20, the official said. He told that Sonu’s younger sister Nikita lodged a complaint of alleged theft in the early hours of Wednesday at the Oshiwara police station.

According to the complaint, a person named Rehan was working as a driver with Agamkumar for about eight months, but he was removed recently as his performance was not satisfactory, the official said. Citing the complaint, the officer said that on Sunday (March 19) afternoon, Agamkumar went to Nikita’s house in Versova area for lunch and returned after some time. In the evening, he called his daughter and told that 40 lakh rupees were missing from the digital locker kept in the wooden cupboard.

The next day, Agamkumar went to his son’s house at “7-Bungalows” for some visa-related work and returned in the evening, he added. They found another Rs 32 lakh missing from the locker, which was not damaged. The officer said that Agamkumar and Nikita scanned the CCTV footage of their society, which showed their former driver Rehaan walking towards his (Agamkumar’s) flat with a bag on both the days when he was out.

According to the complaint, Agamkumar suspects that Rehan entered his flat with the help of a “duplicate key” and stole Rs 72 from the digital locker in the room. On Nikita’s complaint, the Oshiwara police registered an FIR under sections 380, 454 and 457 of the Indian Penal Code for theft and house-trespass, the official said. He told that the investigation is going on.
