7th Pay Commission: Government employees will soon get increase in allowances

The new year of 2023 has just started, so this year government employees have a lot of expectations. This is what the government plans to do in response to the demands of the employee unions. According to AICPI data, dearness allowance of government employees is increased twice a year in January and July.

Now looking at the graph of inflation, it seems that the dearness allowance of central employees may increase by 3 percent in the current year. There is also the matter of DA arrears of the employees from January 2020 to June 2021 which are yet to be released by the government. The employees unions are constantly demanding the release of dues from the government. Now the government may soon take a decision on the pending dues of 18 months.

There is also concern about increasing the fitment factor. Reports had earlier suggested that the government may give it as a New Year gift. Now, as per the latest updates, the government is planning to increase the fitment factor post budget 2023. The present rate of fitment factor is around 2.6 per cent and the employees are demanding the government to increase it to 3.7 per cent.

If this happens, there will be a huge increase in the salaries of the workers. Experts say that after the hike, the basic pay will increase from Rs 18,000 to Rs 26,000. The government last increased the fitment factor in 2016.
