According to media reports, free lounge access is being used extensively by credit card holding customers. This is making it very expensive for card companies to cover the cost of lounge access. However, credit card holders will have to face problems due to this.
HDFC Bank: HDFC, the country’s largest private bank, has announced changes in its lounge access facility for credit card holders. From December 1, 2023, lounge facility to any cardholder will be based on credit card spend. To avail the free lounge facility, the cardholder will have to spend at least Rs 1 lakh in a year. Also, you will be able to use only two lounge access vouchers in a quarter.
Changes have been made in the credit card facilities available on Club Vistara IDFC First Credit Card, IDFC First Select Credit Card and IDFC First Wealth Credit Card offered by IDFC First Bank.
Users of IDFC’s Club Vistara IDFC First Credit Card will now be able to avail the facility of two domestic lounge access and one international lounge access in a quarter. For this they will have to spend at least five thousand rupees. Whereas, IDFC First Select Credit Card users will be able to access four domestic lounges in a quarter. For this they will have to spend at least Rs 5,000 from their card.
The bank will now provide the facility of four domestic lounge access and four international lounge access in a quarter to the users of IDFC First Wealth Credit Card. For this they will have to spend at least Rs 5,000.
Changes have been made in the lounge access facility on credit cards for the users of ICICI Bank’s Saffiro Credit Card and ICICI Bank Rubix Credit Card. Saffiro Credit Card users can avail the facility of four domestic lounge access in a quarter, for this they will have to spend at least Rs 5,000 from their card.
You will be able to avail the facility of two domestic lounge access on ICICI Bank Rubyx Credit Card, but for this also a minimum of Rs 5000 will have to be spent through the card in that quarter.
At the same time, Cashback SBI Card has already stopped the facility of airport lounge access from May 1.
