Surat: Textile Machinery Survey: Meeting in Mumbai to seek data.  Loktej Surat, Business News

Textile Commissioner of India Roop Rashi held a meeting with officials and representatives of various textile organizations across the country in Mumbai on April 16, 2024. Data of textile machinery in South Gujarat including Surat were presented in the meeting.

What happened in the meeting:

  • Textile Commissioner Roop Rashi requested representatives of textile organizations from across the country to provide data on textile machinery.
  • Chamber of Commerce acting president Vijay Mewawala and FIASVI president Bharat Gandhi presented statistics of textile machinery in South Gujarat including Surat.
  • According to the data, South Gujarat including Surat has 71,500 looms, 350 process houses, 1.50 lakh embroidery machines, 2000 warp knitting machines and 3500 circular knitting machines.
  • This industry employs approximately 15 lakh people, including 4 lakh women.

  • A fresh survey will be conducted by the Textile Commissioner’s office.
  • It is estimated that the survey will be conducted first in Mumbai, Ichchalkaranji and Gujarat.
