Tech companies have seen an increase in layoffs in February 2024 and major companies in the sector have cut jobs. According to tracking site Layoffs.fyi, a total of 50,000 people have lost their jobs in tech companies so far in 2024. There has been a significant increase in layoffs due to increasing economic instability and changes in business priorities.

Cisco laid off more than 4000 employees

Cisco announced it would cut approximately 4,250 jobs, representing 5% of its workforce. Indeed, the cuts come as Cisco aims to focus on higher-growth business areas. Sources had earlier indicated that job cuts were on the cards at the company which employed about 85,000 at the end of fiscal 2023.
