Regarding his struggle, he says, ‘My struggle was to do something with the radio job I was doing. We have LIG flats in Delhi, so I come from lower income class. One thing I definitely faced for a long time was that ‘Hero Ka Dost’ or ‘Funny Banda’ roles were available. It was a struggle to break that image, but that too happened automatically. Mostly unconventional faces have worked with good stories and good directors. Take Gangs of Wasseypur only. All the faces in it are stars today, Manoj Bajpayee, Richa Chadha, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Huma Qureshi, Pankaj Tripathi were all unconventional people, but today they made their mark. All the ideal stars for me, maybe they are all unconventional, but their work speaks for itself. I have got the advantage of being unconventional. I look like a normal boy. That is my strength. I have become a commentator in Ajay Devgan’s field
Talking about his roles in ‘Kennedy’ and ‘Maidan’, he says, ‘I have been very fortunate to have got so many different roles to play. Even in Kennedy and Maidan, my characters are different from each other. Aspirations, Blur and Faadu had diverse roles, similarly Kennedy is in a thriller space. Can’t reveal much about the film or else Anurag Kashyap will kill me. But my character is very impactful. I am playing the part of commentator in the field. I have worked with Ajay Devgan sir in two-three ad films earlier, but I did not have any scenes with him in this film, but it is a big deal for me to be a part of his film without any audition.
