Actor Govinda joins Eknath Shinde’s faction Shiv Sena, may contest elections from Mumbai North-West seat

Veteran Bollywood actor Govinda is likely to make a political comeback in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and there is speculation that the “Hero No. 1” will contest in the Eknath Shinde-led Maharashtra. Has joined Shiv Sena., Sources said Govinda may contest from the controversial North-West Mumbai seat on Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction) ticket, in which he will challenge Shiv Sena (UBT) candidate Amol Kirtikar. This was Govinda’s second meeting with Eknath Shinde in a week. On Wednesday, Shinde camp spokesperson Krishna Hegde met the popular actor at his residence. NCP (Sharad Pawar) leader Jayant Patil took a dig at Eknath Shinde after meeting Govinda.
Patil said, “He is not a popular actor. Eknath Shinde should have cast an actor who has popularity. A good actor should have been cast. I think Eknath Shinde does not watch films. If he had watched films, he would have found a better actor.” Will know about.”
In the 2004 Lok Sabha elections, Govinda contested from Mumbai North Lok Sabha under the banner of Congress. He defeated senior BJP leader Ram Naik.
However, Govinda later parted ways with the Congress party and politics, deciding not to contest the 2009 Lok Sabha elections. Lok Sabha elections for 48 seats in Maharashtra will be held in five phases between April 19 and May 20 and the counting of votes will take place on June 4.
Seat-sharing has been a point of contention for both the Mahayuti and the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA). Eknath Shinde has not yet finalized the seat sharing with the BJP and Ajit Pawar-led NCP. Meanwhile, former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena has angered both the Congress and the NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) after announcing candidates for 17 Lok Sabha seats.
Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) constituents Congress, Sena (UBT) and NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) are discussing seat sharing for 48 constituencies in Maharashtra. The Sena (UBT) has said it will contest 22 seats in the state.
The Congress is demanding three of the six seats in Mumbai – North West, North Central and South Central.
