Chandrayaan-3, a mission worth Rs 600 crore, was launched on July 14 using a Launch Vehicle Mark-III (LVM-3) rocket. The mission’s goal was to reach the Moon’s south pole in 41 days. This was successful despite the recent failure of Russia’s Luna-25 spacecraft.
India created history by becoming the first country to land a spacecraft near the South Pole of the Moon. Chandrayaan-3 landed on the South Pole of the Moon at 6.04 pm on Wednesday after an impeccable journey of 41 days.
With this touchdown on the moon in its second attempt in four years, India has become the fourth country after the US, China and the erstwhile Soviet Union to master the technique of soft-landing on the lunar surface.
