Actor Siddharth took a jibe at women by sharing a video on RCB’s spectacular WPL win, people took a class on social media

Actor Siddharth said something ironic on his ex account on Sunday evening. Calling out ‘patriarchy in India’, the actor spoke about how a huge number of men were taking to the streets of Bengaluru to celebrate the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) women’s team winning the Women’s Premier League (WPL). However, many netizens did not seem to agree with him.
Siddharth shared a video in which the streets of Bengaluru are seen filled with people celebrating RCB’s win in the WPL. Many were overjoyed that the women’s team had achieved what the men’s team had not been able to do for years. However, the actor pointed out that it was only men who were celebrating. No women were involved in this celebration.
He wrote, “A women’s team won the tournament but not a single woman came on the street to celebrate. A quintessential moment of patriarchy in India.” When netizens became defensive and asked him why men can’t celebrate women’s victories, he elaborated on his point by saying, “To clarify, the above tweet is about how women are not allowed to be held in public spaces in India. How inaccessible they are, especially during night time. The intention was to highlight the irony of women’s inability to celebrate like men in the streets, even for an iconic example of women’s achievement.
Even after that, when many netizens became defensive, one fan wrote, “The fact that almost no one in the replies actually got the point is really telling.”
Sidharth was last seen in the 2023 film Chittha, which he also produced. Directed by SU Arun Kumar, the film tells the story of a man whose world is destroyed when his beloved niece goes missing. The blog deals with the topic of child sexual abuse.
Sidharth will also soon be seen in Shankar’s Indian 2, starring Kamal Haasan, Kajal Aggarwal and Rakul Preet Singh. The film has been in production since 2019 and the completion of the film was delayed in 2020 due to the pandemic and an accident on the set. The shooting of the film is almost complete and only a few songs are left to be canned.
