Adah Sharma breaks silence on Bastar being called a propaganda film, ‘When you play the role of a tough policeman..’

After the massive success of The Kerala Story, Adah Sharma is all set to make a comeback with another film, which will be based on real life events. Bastar: The Naxal Story is all set to release on March 15, and soon after the unveiling of its first teaser, a section of people started calling the film ‘propaganda’. Now the film’s lead star Ada Sharma has come forward and broken her silence on this issue. In a conversation with News 18 Shosha, he defended the story of the film, which a section of people are claiming is politically motivated.

She said, “When you play a tough cop like Neeraj Mathur in Bastar, I want people to think that I have portrayed him in the strongest, most fearless and powerful way. I want people to believe every word I say in the film. When she says that 76 soldiers were killed and she wants to gun them down, she is saying so out of frustration because she saw soldiers being shot and cut into pieces. She said, “I probably wouldn’t say it like Ada but like Neeraj.”

They said Once people watch the film, they will understand what it is about. But as I said even during The Kerala Story, it is a democracy – people can choose to watch the film or not, they can comment after watching the film or not. And we should also respect those who are commenting without watching the film because it is their choice.

Talking about how Indian Army soldiers were harmed in an incident in Bastar, he further said, “We are able to sit and talk peacefully because of our soldiers. We all should be grateful to him. They (Naxalites) killed people of their own country and I am not standing for them because I love my country. For me, Bastar is a patriotic film. So, I stand by my film.

For those unaware, Bastar: The Naxal Story also stars Yashpal Sharma, Naman Jain, Shilpa Shukla and Raima Sen in lead roles. The film is directed by Sudipto Sen, who also directed The Kerala Story.
