Adipurush, starring Prabhas and Kriti Sanon, released theatrically in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam on Friday. Written and directed by Om Raut, the film also stars Saif Ali Khan, Devdutt Nag and Sunny Singh in pivotal roles. Amidst the film’s release, talks are already doing the rounds about its OTT premiere which has got the fans excited.

According to reports, Amazon Prime Video has acquired the rights of T-Series and Retrofiles joint project. The film is likely to premiere on the platform in the second week of August. However, the premiere date will not be the same for its Hindi dub as there are strict conditions in the Hindi belt regarding the OTT release of the big budget film. Adipurush has been embroiled in several controversies before its release. The teaser of the film was launched last year in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh and was not well received by the audience. It was trolled for its VFX and portrayal of its characters including Saif Ali Khan as Ravana.

Based on the epic Ramayana, Adipurush is reportedly the costliest Indian film ever made. It stars Kriti Sanon as Janaki, Prabhas as Raghav, Devdutt Nag as Bajrang, Sunny Singh as Laxman and Saif Ali Khan as Raavan. The film was earlier scheduled to release on August 11, 2022, but was postponed due to the release of Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha. The release date was pushed forward for the second time to avoid clashing with Veera Simha Reddy and Waltair Veerayya.

Adipurush marks the first collaboration of Kriti Sanon and Prabhas which led to their dating rumors being sparked by Varun Dhawan during a reality show. Kriti later denied the rumors and issued a statement regarding the same.
