Ashish Saxena, COO – Cinemas, BookMyShow informs, “After a long wait of four years, Shah Rukh Khan is all set to make a grand comeback with the jet-setting Pathan on advance sale. The much-awaited action-thriller has already crossed 1 million advance ticket sales on BookMyShow. The pre-sales for Pathan are starting in phases, with over 3500 screens available on the platform as of now. Even select theaters across India have started morning shows for the film due to the increase in demand.
Interestingly, this is the first Shah Rukh Khan film to release at 6 am and could be a trendsetter for the Hindi market. In South India, films of all top stars – especially in Tamil and Telugu – usually release at 5 am on the first day. This is a practice that is being followed since decades. Two Telugu films – Chiranjeevi’s Waltair Veeraiya and Balakrishna’s Veera Simha Reddy – released at 5 am during Sankranti. Both these films were blockbusters, as were the Tamil Pongal releases, Vijay’s Vaarisu and Ajith Kumar’s Thunivu.
