A lot of propaganda films like The Kerala Story are being made. I am against banning anything but I am adamant that this movie is really a propaganda film.
Anurag Kashyap said that cinema should be based on truth
Anurag Kashyap further said that he is a filmmaker. And because of this, he would not want to make a film that would be counter to any propaganda film or that would sound like an activist. He said that he is making cinema and cinema should be based on truth and reality.

When Anurag Kashyap was asked whether he wants to make such films which can give socio-political atmosphere to the country. On this he said that if you are honest then you can do it. They cannot stop anything which is factual and is not taking any side. He further said that there can be dishonesty in counter-propaganda, but to be honest, they cannot fight it.
The film was banned in two states
As you know ‘The Kerala Story’ was banned in West Bengal. At the same time, the Tamil Nadu government had also banned its screening. But after the order of the Supreme Court, both the states were ordered to show the film and the decision was given to ensure the security.
