He said, “If Will remains injured then we have to clearly move forward and decide who will come into the team. (Wagner) got a wonderful reception here last week. He got a chance to see some moments on the field and obviously he has been a fan favorite for a long time.” Meanwhile, Australia captain Pat Cummins supported Wagner’s return from retirement.

He said, “If this happens, it will be the smallest retirement in the world.” I mean, why not? If he is your next best bowler and you think he will perform well, then go for it. I have faced him before also. I really enjoy talking to him.” Australia have retained the Trans-Tasman Trophy for the 12th consecutive time with their win in the opening match of the series.
