What has Chamak given you the opportunity to do differently as an actress?
My character of Jazz is in Chamak web series, that too is very interesting. You will get to see a different side of me. I had not played an urban character yet. The character of sister-in-law and daughter-in-law was playing out in my acting life. This show is giving me a break from that. In personal life, I am a young girl. I grew up in Mumbai only. I also have the right to play characters of my age on screen, which this show is giving me. I am eagerly waiting for the audience’s response.
What special preparation did you do for your character?
Like Saas Bahu Flamingo, I have entered this series also a month before the shooting. These makers first search a lot and then come to me, so I did not have much time to spend much time on my character. This is the reason why I have used Punjabi language mostly in the series. This is quite a different kind of character. If you want to play a young character, but have never done such a character, then there is a fear that you will not be able to do it on screen. The name of my character in this series is Jazz. I learned to play drums for this show. This is a character with which even common girls will feel connected. The characters of Madhuri Yadav and Saas-Bahu Flamingo of Mirzapur 2 are strong, but they are not like ordinary girls.
The backdrop of this series is on music, how important is music in your life?
I think music is in the life of every Indian. I too am no different from this. If you want to dance, there is music. If you want to cry then music is there. Music gives you inner satisfaction. I need music to connect with every character. Without him I cannot connect. I listen to music even during photo shoots. Both while shooting and while walking the ramp. I have a musical piece for every occasion. I find something new for every occasion. There are 28 songs in this web series, everything is Thumri, Jazz, Rap. There is also a sad song, which will appeal to everyone’s broken heart.
The title of the series is Chamak, when was the first time you felt the glow in your life?
My first Malayalam film was a superhit, so I felt successful from that. Yes, life had changed after Madhuri Yadav of Mirzapur 2. That series had made me a familiar face. The series was released and when I woke up, I had 400 followers on Instagram before sleeping, but within four hours that number had crossed 1 million.
You have become a popular face of OTT, has this success translated into film offers?
To be honest, no, but personally I want to do films also, because when I started, there were only films at that time. Because of which you definitely want to do films as an actor. Hopefully offers for good films will come. I have waited a lot in my career.
Is my conversation with you incomplete without the mention of Mirzapur 3?
I am also waiting for Mirzapur 3. He is coming soon. Madhuri Yadav is playing a lot this time. People will see what a hidden gem she is. They know how to play their game in their own way.

Shahkot Karke is a Punjabi film. I am opposite Siddharth Malhotra in Rohit Shetty’s Indian Police Force. Along with this, a web series has been signed, the shooting of which will start from January.
