Karachi: Amid ongoing speculation over India’s participation in the Champions Trophy, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi said that he is not thinking of organizing the tournament outside the country next year.

Speaking to reporters on Monday night during the Pakistan Super League final, Naqvi confirmed that he had spoken to Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah during the ICC (International Cricket Council) meeting in Dubai last week. .

Naqvi said, “Yes, we had discussed for a while but it would not be wise to give its details.” Naqvi was asked whether the tournament would be organized in any other country if the Indian team does not tour Pakistan. He said, “Right now I am not even thinking of organizing the tournament in any other country.

He further said that the stadiums of Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi will be renovated. Most of the Champions Trophy matches will be organized at these venues.

India has not played a bilateral series with Pakistan since the Mumbai terror attacks in November 2008. The Indian team last came to Pakistan to play in the Asia Cup in June-July 2008.

The Indian team had refused to tour Pakistan for the Asia Cup last year. Pakistan then hosted only four matches of this tournament and the remaining matches were played in Sri Lanka.
