Mumbai: Star batsman Suryakumar Yadav is yet to get fitness clearance from the National Cricket Academy (NCA), which is certain to miss Mumbai Indians’ Indian Premier League (IPL) opening match against Gujarat Titans on March 24.
World number one T20 batsman Suryakumar was at the NCA in Bengaluru for recovery and rehabilitation after ‘Sports Rhinaya’ surgery.
Suryakumar, who has been out of cricket since December, also underwent a fitness test at the NCA on Tuesday but PTI feels that the 33-year-old player’s fitness needs to be assessed.
Suryakumar will be assessed once again on Thursday. His participation in Mumbai Indians’ matches against Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 27, against Rajasthan Royals on April 1 and against Delhi Capitals on April 7 will be decided later.
Suryakumar posted a vague message on his Instagram page on Tuesday along with a ‘heartbreak emoji’.
