How did Binaka Geet Mala start?

The show began in 1952, when executives of an advertising company were planning a series of Hindi film songs for subscribers on the renowned Radio Ceylon. A show of English songs by the famous radio artiste Hamid Sayani was doing very well on Radio Ceylon. No writer or composer was ready for this plan of the ad company, because the remuneration received for this work was only Rs 25. This amount was very less. Amin Sayani’s brother Hamid insisted and prepared him for this. Thus began a long, rewarding radio journey. Whose name was- ‘Binaka Geet Mala’. My father learned Parsi sometime in his childhood and my mother spoke Gujarati, English and Hindi. I used to speak Gujarati in my childhood. My mother was a disciple of Gandhiji. He advised mother to publish magazines in Hindi, Gujarati and Urdu. Mother entrusted me with this work and it also helped me a lot in expanding my languages. There was nervousness in the beginning. I used to think that I know Hindi and Urdu but now I will have to speak on the radio. After a lot of thinking, I prepared myself. Gradually I improved my language along with my listeners. Amin Sayani’s unfulfilled dream

The truth about rejecting Amitabh Bachchan

The great hero of the century is not found

When Amitabh told in a show that his voice was rejected on the radio. Then he asked his wife who Amitabh was talking about, because at that time we were the only company and I do not remember ever meeting him. He told that there was a man who came to meet you. Then I remembered that my secretary told me that a man had come calling his name as ‘Amitabh Bachchan’, so I told him to come with an appointment. Then he came to meet me for the second time also without an appointment. I apologized and declined the meeting because I did not have time. This story is as famous as the voice of Amin Sayani.

The magician of radio has said goodbye to the world. Even though his voice will no longer be heard, his name will be written in golden words in the pages of history and as soon as it is heard ‘Yes sisters and brothers…’ the memories of Amin Sayani will remain alive.
