During a special conversation with PTI, Chahar was asked how he and Dhoni spend their time. Then he told that we have spent a lot of time together outside the field. I am very lucky because I got to learn a lot from him. During the lockdown, we have played a lot of PUBG together. We played a lot of games together.

It was because of him that I got a chance to play for India

Putting his point forward, Chahar said, ‘I believe that it was because of him that I got the opportunity to play for India because before this, he had given me a huge opportunity to play all the 14 games in the IPL. In 2018, I played all 14 games. Looking at MS Dhoni’s health, Chahar said that Dhoni, who has been suffering from a knee injury for the last one year, should stop taking extra responsibilities in the CSK set-up at this stage of his career and should enjoy his game. He further said, ‘I personally think he has a lot to offer to cricket. He can play for the next 2-3 seasons. I have seen him bat in the nets. Obviously, he had an injury that can happen to anyone, even 24-year-old people have the same injuries that he had.

Very difficult for CSK to play without him

Putting forward his point on MS Dhoni’s health, Chahar said, ‘He has recovered well. According to me he should play for the next 2-3 years. But this is his decision. He has told everyone that he wants to play his last game in Chennai. Chahar said, ‘It will be very difficult for CSK to play without him. Everyone has always seen CSK with Mahi Bhai. He should not retire from CSK at this time because this is the end of his career. Apart from this, he should enjoy not taking responsibility and pressure for the team. He has groomed many cricketers like Ravindra Jadeja and other players, who can now lead the team. They are good at it.
