Asain games 2023: Nikhat Zareen enters quarterfinals, Shiv Thapa and Sanjeet out of Asian Games

Indian boxer Nikhat Zareen has entered the quarterfinals by winning the 50 kg weight category in the Asian Games 2023 on Wednesday. Nikhat Zareen won a unanimous decision 5-0 over Republic of Korea boxer Chorong Bak by being aggressive in all three rounds.

Now Nikhat Zareen will face Jordan’s Nasser Hanan in the quarterfinals. Nikhat Zareen from the red corner started her bout with excellent attacks and dominated the Korean boxer. Whereas Nikhat used her right and left hooks very well and won the first round by 5-0.

Whereas the second round was even more aggressive. The Indian boxer delivered bat to back punches on the Korean boxer and Chorong Bak appeared to be under constant pressure. Similarly, in the second round also, Nikhat Zareen won easily by 5-0 with unanimous decision of all the judges.

Apart from this, the confident Nikhat Zareen made excellent use of her footwork in the third and last round and won the match by unanimous decision and managed to make it to the quarterfinals.

On the other hand, in the other match, Indian boxer Shiva Thapa made his debut against Kyrgyzstan’s Askat Kulataev in men’s 57 kg. The 2023 National Championship gold medal winners suffered a 5-0 defeat in the round of 16 at the Asian Games.

Along with this, India’s Sanjeet faced Uzbekistan’s Lazibek Mullojonov. The Indian boxer tried to throw some punches in the round of 16 in the men’s 92 kg weight category but the Uzbekistan boxer looked dominant from the beginning. With this, in the end Indian boxer Sanjeet had to face defeat by 5-0.
