Asia cup 2023: Hardik or Bumrah who will become Rohit Sharma’s successor? This new twist came to the fore
[ad_1]
A BCCI source aware of the matter said on the condition of confidentiality, “If you look at the experience in terms of leadership, Bumrah is ahead of Pandya. He captained the Test team in 2022. He was also the vice-captain of the ODI team before Pandya during the ODI tour of South Africa.
He said, ‘If you see Bumrah being made vice-captain in ODIs for both Asia Cup and World Cup, then it will not be surprising. That is the reason why he was given the captaincy in Ireland instead of Ruturaj.
Although earlier it was being said that after Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya would captain Team India in limited overs, but now the game has completely changed with the return of Jasprit Bumrah. In such a situation, if Bumrah is made the vice-captain of the ODI team for the Asia Cup and the World Cup, then there is every possibility that after Rohit Sharma, Bumrah can be given the job in ODI and Test formats.
Let us tell you that this is not the first time that Team India is experimenting with captaincy. Before Hardik and Bumrah, wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant was also given the captaincy of the Indian team, but due to injury, Pant is running out of Team India. In such a situation, now the battle between Bumrah and Pandya to get the captaincy can be interesting.
