Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Marsh will return to the Australian team for the ODI series against India next month. Australia will play India for ODIs in Mumbai (March 17), Vizag (March 19) and Chennai (March 22). And Marsh has been included in the 16-man squad for the three ODIs that follow the Test series.
Maxwell returned to Victoria last week in the Victorian Premier Cricket Competition and Marsh in the Sheffield Shield, while Marsh is expected to play the next two matches for Western Australia before flying to India. Jhye Richardson will also return to the Australian squad after recovering from the hamstring strain that ruled him out of the BBL final. With the World Cup seven months away, these matches in India are our focus,” said George Bailey, chairman of selectors. Preparation is an important step. Glenn, Mitchell and Jhey are all important players who we think will do well.”
Josh Hazlewood has been left out of the squad as he fully recovers from a hamstring injury as he prepares for the possible World Test Championship final and the Ashes in England. Would be nice, but we’ve taken a conservative approach in England, of which he will be an integral part.”
Australia squad: Pat Cummins (c), Sean Abbott, Ashton Elgar, Alex Carey, Cameron Green, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Marnus Labuschagne, Mitchell Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Jhye Richardson, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis, David Warner , Adam Zampa.
