Bangladesh suffered a blow before Super 4, Liton Das’s entry out of star batsman tournament

According to team physio Baizedul Islam Khan, Shanto suffered the injury during the match against Afghanistan here. Shanto played a brilliant inning of 104 runs in this match which helped Bangladesh win by 89 runs.
In the second half of Bangladesh’s innings, Shanto was seen struggling while taking runs and did not even come out to field during Afghanistan’s innings.
According to ESPNcricinfo, Bijedul said in the statement, ‘The player complained of injury to the leg muscles during the batting and could not field. We got an MRI scan done and it revealed muscle injury.
“As a precautionary measure, Shanto will take no further part in the tournament and will return to Bangladesh for rehabilitation and preparation for the World Cup,” he added.
Bangladesh’s chief selector Minhajul Abedin said, “Injuries to some players in the Asia Cup squad is a matter of concern and the team management believes that the team needs additional players ahead of the Super Four.”
He said, ‘We have got clearance from the medical team of the board regarding Liton’s health and hence we have decided to include him in the team. Apart from Shanto, Mehdi Hasan Miraj has a hand injury. He too had to retire hurt after scoring a century against Afghanistan. Earlier on August 31, during the match against Sri Lanka, Mustafizur Rahman also suffered a minor injury and could not play against Afghanistan.
