Jai Shah targets Najam Sethi, explains why Asia Cup was held in Sri Lanka instead of UAE

Shah defended the decision following recent remarks by former PCB chairman Najam Sethi. Sethi had said that during his tenure he had suggested that the 2023 Asia Cup be held in the UAE instead of Sri Lanka. It is raining heavily in some parts of Sri Lanka.
Shah said in a statement, ‘Asia Cup 2022 was played in UAE in T20 format. It is important to stress here that the conditions of a T20 tournament cannot be compared to the 100-over (50-50 over) ODI format. ‘ He wrote, ‘In this context the ACC members received feedback from their respective ‘High Performance’ Teams expressing concern regarding the ODIs being played in the UAE in the month of September.
Such a schedule could potentially fatigue players and increase their risk of injury, especially ahead of an important tournament such as the ICC Cricket World Cup. ,
On Saturday, the match between India and Pakistan was abandoned due to incessant rain, leaving both the teams one point each and sports lovers from both the countries were deprived of a thrilling encounter. After this, there is criticism about ACC’s program. Shah said, “All the full members, media rights holders and in-stadium rights holders were initially hesitant about hosting the entire tournament in Pakistan. These concerns were arising due to the security and economic conditions in Pakistan. ,
“As the ACC president, I was determined to find a fair solution for all that is agreeable to all,” he said. I, along with the ACC management, accepted the ‘hybrid model’ proposed by the PCB. Shah said, “But it is important to note that there have been a lot of changes in the top brass of the PCB, which has led to talks regarding some important aspects regarding the insurance of matches.” Apart from Sethi, former India cricketer Virender Sehwag also criticized the schedule of the tournament. He wrote on X, ‘During the rains, we keep chai pakodas yaar. The Asia Cup has also been kept.
