Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) has been stuck on promises for the past few months. The then president of the Women’s Wrestling Federation of India, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, accused a female wrestler of Yanchyawar of sexual misconduct.
Wrestling Federation of India is the only wrestling regulatory body in India. Or it would have been mandatory to pass the elections in the middle of June 2023. But due to the movement to ban Indian wrestling and petitions filed by various states, the elections have been postponed several times. The election for the 15 posts of the governing body of WFI would have been held on 12th August. On Monday, outgoing Wrestling Federation of India chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh along with his Uttar Pradesh colleague Sanjay Singh would have filed applications for four candidatures or posts. Or if the elections were delayed, the WFI would have given an indication of suspension.
