What is tie-break rule
- The final of a FIDE World Cup chess tournament consists of two classical games. If both games end in a draw, the tiebreak is decided.
- There are two games of 25-25 minutes in the tiebreak. If both these bets also remain a draw, then the decision will be taken through 10-10 bets. If even after this the winner is not decided, then the game can be extended to two games of 5 minutes each and then to games of 3 minutes each.
- Through the FIDE World Cup Chess tournament, three players will qualify for the Candidates Tournament. In which Praggnanandhaa has qualified for the candidates as well as reaching the finals of the World Cup Chess tournament.
- There are a total of 8 players in the candidates. Whose winner will challenge the World Cup champion China’s Ding Liren next year. And on being victorious, he will be called the World Champion.
Notably, Praggnanandhaa had beaten world number three Fabiano Caruana 3.5-2.5 in the semi-finals to make the final. Significantly, Praggnanandhaa has become only the second Indian player to reach the final. Before him this achievement was achieved by Vishwanath Anand.
