Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are set to create two new titles at the streaming giant, Netflix. The duo wants to make a solid mark in the entertainment industry with strong content. On Thursday, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Archewell Productions unveiled two new non-fiction series that are in the early stages of production, according to a report from Deadline.
These projects are part of the deal that Meghan and Harry signed with streaming giant Netflix in 2020. The first series will see The Duchess celebrating the joys of cooking, gardening, entertaining and friendship. It will be produced by Sony Pictures Television’s The Intellectual Property Corporation, which is behind series including Hulu’s The D’Amelio Show and A&E’s Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath.
Selena + Chef’s Leah Harriton will serve as showrunner alongside Michael Steed, who directed episodes of My Next Guest Needs No Introduction and Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown. Meghan, Duchess of Sussex and Chanel Piesnik will executive produce alongside Hariton for Archewell Productions and Aaron Saidman and Eli Holzman for IPC.
The second series follows the world of professional polo. Shot primarily in the US, at the USPA National Polo Center in Wellington, Florida, at the Open Polo Championship, the series will explore the world of the sport, known primarily for its aesthetic and social landscape. It will lift the curtain on the grit and passion of the game, everything it takes for players to catch on and compete at the highest level.
Prince Harry is known to be a keen polo player and is often photographed playing at international level. The series will be produced by Boardwalk Pictures, which produces Netflix’s Chef’s Table, Pepsi, Where’s My Jet? Is a production company of series like. And sex, love and secrets. The couple’s projects so far for the streamer include the intimate documentary Harry and Meghan, due in December 2022.
