Brown Rice Casserole
Material
- 2 cups brown rice
- 1 tbsp ghee
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 inch cinnamon stick
- 3 cloves ½ cup chopped onion
- ½ tsp sugar
- ½ cup green peas
- 1 cup cauliflower florets
- ½ cup chopped green beans
- 1 large potato
- 2 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper powder
- ½ tsp garam masala powder
how to make
- Wash and soak brown rice in water for an hour.
- Heat ghee in a pressure cooker.
- Put the rice in the pressure cooker along with the water.
- Add salt, black pepper powder and garam masala.
- Close the lid and cook on high flame till 3-4 whistles. Let the pressure release on its own.
Brown Rice Dal Khichdi
Material
- 1/2 cup brown rice
- 1 cup green moong dal
- 2 tsp ghee
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1/2 tsp asafoetida
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 2 cloves
how to make
- Mix brown rice and green moong dal
- Wash both the things and soak them in water for 30 minutes.
- Heat ghee in a pressure cooker. Add cumin, asafoetida, turmeric powder, cloves and fry on medium heat for a few seconds.
- Add rice-dal mixture, salt and water to it. Mix well and switch off after 4 whistles.
Brown Rice Dosa
Material
- 2 cups brown rice
- ¼ cup poha or rice
- 2 tbsp chana dal
- ½ cup urad dal
- ½ tsp fenugreek seeds
- salt to taste
how to make
- Soak brown rice in water, cover with a lid and keep aside for 4-5 hours.
- In a separate bowl, do the same for urad, chana and fenugreek seeds.
- Wash and drain the brown rice and put it in a blender. Prepare a smooth paste using water.
- Wash and drain urad, chana and fenugreek seeds and blend to make a smooth paste.
- Add the paste to the brown rice paste and mix. Add salt as per taste.
- Cover it and keep it to ferment for 8 hours.
- Heat a non-stick tava (griddle), pour a ladleful of the batter and spread it in a circle.
- Sprinkle some ghee over it and let it cook on high flame.
Serve hot with coconut chutney.
Brown Rice Pudding
Material
- 2 cups cooked brown rice
- 3 cups milk
- 2 tbsp raisins
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tsp butter
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
how to make
- Combine brown rice, milk, raisins, ground cinnamon and sugar in a pan.
- Cook on medium to low heat till thick and creamy. Let the milk absorb completely. Keep stirring in between so that there are no lumps.
- Switch off the flame and add butter. Stir well and pour into a serving bowl and enjoy.
How to cook brown rice?
- First wash the brown rice thoroughly.
- Put rice and water in a saucepan.
- Add some ghee and let it cook till the water starts boiling.
- Cook till the rice becomes soft. The water should be completely absorbed.
- Your brown rice is ready to eat.
