Bumrah’s sixer, India leveled the series by winning the second test

Cape Town. The second and final Test between India and South Africa ended within two days and India won the match by seven wickets on Thursday to level the two-match series 1-1.

Fast bowler Jasprit Bamurah took 6 wickets for 61 runs and restricted South Africa to 176 runs in the second innings. India got a target of 79 runs to win, which it achieved by scoring 80 runs for three wickets in 12 overs. After losing the first Test by an innings and 32 runs, India made a brilliant comeback in this match and won the match within two days.

This was the shortest match in Test history. This match ended in just 642 balls. Apart from this, India is the first Asian team to defeat South Africa in Test in Cape Town.

While chasing the target, India’s young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal gave a bright start to the team. Jaiswal scored 28 runs in just 23 balls hitting 6 fours. The second out batsman Shubhman Gill scored 10 runs with the help of two fours in 11 balls and was bowled by Kagiso Rabada. Then, Virat Kohli became the victim of Marco Jansson after scoring 12 runs with the help of 2 fours in 11 balls. Captain Rohit Sharma remained unbeaten on 17 runs, while Iyer hit the match-winning four.

In South Africa’s second innings, opener Adam Markram (106) scored a brilliant century but due to no support from the rest of the batsmen, South Africa was reduced to 176 runs till lunch. Although Markram got a lease of life from wicketkeeper KL Rahul before scoring his century off Bumrah, he completed his century by hitting two consecutive fours on Bumrah. Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah played an important role in defeating the host team by taking six wickets for 61 runs. Apart from Bumrah’s six wickets, Mukesh Kumar took 2 wickets and Mohammad Siraj and Prasidh Krishna took 1 wicket each.

South Africa’s first innings was limited to 55 runs, while India scored 153 runs and took a lead of 98 runs. South Africa started playing yesterday with a score of 66 runs for the loss of three wickets. Bumrah started putting pressure on South Africa by getting David Bedingham caught by the wicketkeeper in the very first over of the day and by taking four wickets one after the other, the host’s score was reduced to 111 runs for seven wickets.

Adam Markram, playing with patience at one end, got good support from Kagiso Rabada and he completed his century while playing his shots. Markram completed his century by hitting 2 consecutive fours off Bumrah. But after completing the century, Markram was caught by Rohit Sharma on the ball of Mohammad Siraj.

Markram hit 17 fours and 2 sixes in his innings of 103 balls. Rabada also became the victim of Krishna on the team’s score of 162. Bumrah then came on the attack and got Lungi Ngidi caught by Yashasvi Jaiswal at third slip, reducing South Africa’s innings to 176 runs.

For India, Bumrah took 6 wickets for 61 runs in 13.5 overs. This is the ninth time in Bumrah’s career of taking 5 wickets in an innings.
