Indore. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma admitted that India had to pay the price for not batting well in the first innings after their nine-wicket defeat in the third Test against Australia here. On the first day of the Test, India lost seven wickets in the first session after electing to bat first. Matthew Kuhnmann registered his maiden five-wicket haul.

Sharma said, “When you lose a Test match, there are a lot of things that do not go in our favor. To begin with, we did not bat well in the first innings. We understand that getting runs on the board in the first innings How important it is. Obviously, when they got a lead of 80-90 runs, we needed a big performance with the bat, but we couldn’t do that, we could only get a lead of 75 runs.”
