CCA 2023: Best Foreign Language Film for ‘RRR’, Best Song for ‘Naatu Naatu’

At the Critics’ Choice Awards, RRR was nominated in the categories of Best Film, Best Director (Rajamouli), Best Foreign Film, Best Visual Effects (V Srinivasa Mohan) and Best Lyrics (Naatu Naatu).
Los Angeles. Filmmaker S. s. Rajamouli’s “RRR” continued its winning streak on the world stage by winning the Best Foreign Film and Best Lyrics award for “Naatu Naatu” at the Critics’ Choice Awards (CCA). At the Critics’ Choice Awards, RRR was nominated in the categories of Best Film, Best Director (Rajamouli), Best Foreign Film, Best Visual Effects (V Srinivasa Mohan) and Best Lyrics (Naatu Naatu). The film was up against ‘All Quiet on the Western Front’, ‘Argentina 1985’, ‘Bardo’, ‘Fall’s Chronicle of a Handful of Truths’, ‘Close’ and ‘Decision to Leave’ in the Best Foreign Language Film category. ‘RRR’ is a fictional story of Indian revolutionaries.
Ram Charan and Junior NTR are in lead roles in the film. The film is set in the 1920s when India was under British rule. The film also stars Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgan. Telugu song ‘Naatu Naatu’ beat Taylor Swift’s ‘Carolina’, Gregory Mann’s ‘Chao Papa’, Lady Gaga’s ‘Hold My Hand’, ‘Lift Me’ from ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ in the Best Song category. Up’ and ‘White Noise”s ‘New Body Rumba’. Music composer of Telugu song ‘Naatu Naatu’ is MM Keeravani and vocals are given by Kaal Bhairav & Rahul Sipligunj.
‘Naatu Naatu’ means ‘to dance’. The four minute 35 second song has been picturized on Ram Charan and Jr NTR, in which their peppy dance moves have also been appreciated. The song ‘Naatu Naatu’ along with 14 other songs made it to the shortlist for the Best Original Song category at the 95th Academy Awards. The final nominations will be announced on January 24. The film has also been included in the ‘Long List’ of BAFTA’s ‘Not in English Language’ category.
