Indore. Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer scored brilliant centuries, while skipper KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav capped the innings with their explosive half-centuries as India posted a mammoth total of 399/5 against Australia in the second ODI at the Holkar Stadium on Sunday. ,

On a flat pitch with a small field size, India’s batsmen took full advantage of a relatively inexperienced bowling attack to post their highest ODI score against Australia. Gill continued his impressive form in this format, scoring 104 runs off 97 balls, his fifth ODI century this year, which included six fours and four sixes.

Iyer dismissed question marks over his form and fitness with his first ODI century of the year – 105 off 90 balls with the help of 11 fours and three sixes. Rahul then ensured that the momentum continued by hitting 52 off 38 balls, his second consecutive half-century, which included three fours and as many sixes.

Suryakumar delighted the crowd at the stadium on Sunday with an unbeaten 72 off 37 balls, six fours and as many sixes, including four consecutive sixes off Cameron Green, with a display of boundary-striking. He completed his half-century in 24 balls and broke the record of the fastest ODI half-century for India against Australia, made by Virat Kohli in 27 balls in Jaipur in 2013.
