This year Chhath Puja is starting from Friday, 17 November 2023. Chhath Puja is considered a very difficult festival. After the fast puja in Nahay Khay, all the family members consume pumpkin vegetable, gram dal along with rice.
Kharna is to be held on 18th November. On this day, after making prasad of jaggery and kheer and offering it to God, the devotees accept this prasad, this Mahaprasad is also distributed among the devotees.
The fasting person observes a waterless fast for 36 hours by taking prasad of jaggery and kheer. Earthen stove and mango wood are used in making this Prasad.
Arghya will be offered to the setting sun on 19th November, which is also called Sandhya Arghya, and the next morning on 20th November, Arghya will be offered to the rising sun.
The main offerings of Chhath Puja are banana and coconut. The Mahaprasad of this festival is called Thekuva. This Thekuva is made from flour, jaggery and pure ghee, which is quite famous, apart from this, it is customary to include all types of seasonal fruits in the puja.

The Prasad of Chhath Puja is very sacred, many things have to be kept in mind while making it, like it should be made with utmost purity after taking bath, wearing clean clothes. The place where Prasad is made should also be clean.
Two big bamboo baskets for keeping Chhath Puja prasad, a bamboo or brass vessel (Supeli) for offering Arghya to the Sun, a set of glass, pot and plate in coconut to keep milk and Ganga water for offering Arghya to the Sun. Filled with water, five leafy sugarcane stems, rice, 12 lamps or lamps, incense sticks, kumkum, lights, vermillion, a banana leaf, banana, apple, water chestnut, turmeric, radish, ginger plant, sweet potato and Suthni (yam species ) Betel nut, honey and sweets, jaggery, wheat and rice flour, Ganga water and milk, Prasad-Thekuva are necessary.
