Colonel CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award to Ravi Shastri and Farooq Engineer, Polly Umrigar to Gill

Former Indian all-rounder and head coach Ravi Shastri On Tuesday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) honored him with the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’. BCCI honored the top men and women players for the 2019-20 season. Former Indian wicketkeeper Farooq Engineer was also honored with the ‘Lifetime Achievement’ award.
Ravi Shastri’s career was like this
Sixty-one-year-old Shastri represented India in 80 Tests and 150 ODIs. After retirement, he made his mark as a commentator. Shastri was the coach of the national team twice. He joined the national team as team director from 2014 to 2016 and then took on the role of head coach under the captaincy of Virat Kohli from 2017 to the T20 World Cup in 2021. Under his guidance, India won two consecutive Test series in Australia. However, under his guidance the team could not win any ICC competition. Under Shastri’s guidance, India reached the final of the World Test Championship but lost to New Zealand. India also reached the semi-finals of the ODI World Cup in 2019.
Poly Umrigar Award to Shubman Gill
Opening batsman Shubman Gill was awarded the Polly Umrigar Award for Male Cricketer of the Year for his stellar performance in the last 12 months. During these 12 months, he became the fastest player to score two thousand runs in One Day Internationals and scored five centuries in this format. During this period, he scored 1584 runs in 29 matches at an average of 63.36.
Best International Debut Award for Yashasvi Jaiswal
Young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal won the Best International Debut award for the 2022-23 season after scoring 171 runs against West Indies in Roseau in July last year. Spinner Deepti Sharma won the International Women’s Cricketer of the Year award for the 2022-23 season. Recently, in the only test against England, the Indian team had registered an easy victory due to Deepti’s brilliant bowling. In this match, Deepti took nine wickets for 39 runs along with scoring a half-century.
