Mumbai: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said that Virat Kohli will not play the first two Test matches against England due to personal reasons. BCCI said in a release issued here today, “Virat has spoken to captain Rohit Sharma, team management and selectors about this and has also said that representing the Indian team is his first priority, but due to personal reasons he will not be able to play the first two matches. Will not be able to be a part of test matches.”
Kohli had earlier played in the drawn Test series against South Africa. He made a comeback after a long time in the T20 series with Afghanistan. BCCI has not yet announced the name of any other player to replace Kohli, but the frontrunners include Cheteshwar Pujara, Rajat Patidar, Abhimanyu Easwaran and Sarfaraz Khan.
